MrBeast, also known as Jimmy Donaldson, is well-known for his YouTube stunts in which he donates substantial sums of money to friends or charities. He is known for creating the first charitable YouTube videos and, is among the world’s highest-paid YouTubers. Early Life and Family

Donaldson was born on May 7, 1998, in the state of Kansas. He spent the majority of his childhood living in Greenville, North Carolina, with his brother, Charles “CJ” Donaldson. Donaldson completed his secondary education at the neighboring private school, Greenville Christian Academy, in 2016.

He started attending East Carolina University, but he dropped out. MrBeast’s brother, also a YouTuber who makes similar videos to his brother’s, has more than 4 million subscribers and over 63,550,002 views as of June 2022.

Youtube Career

At the age of 12, Donaldson uploaded his first YouTube video in February 2012, under the user name “MrBeast6000”; his early content was from Let’s Plays, videos estimating the wealth of other YouTubers, videos that offered tips to upcoming YouTubers, and commentary on YouTube drama. 

Donaldson started gaining popularity on the platform in 2015 and 2016 as a result of his “worst intros” series of videos. Donaldson had about 30,000 subscribers by the middle of 2016. Donaldson left East Carolina University in the fall of 2016 in order to focus solely on a career as a YouTuber. He was forced to leave the family house by his mother because she disagreed with him for dropping out of university.

As his YouTube channel started growing, Donaldson was able to get four of his friends to work for him: Chris Tyson, Chandler Hallow, Garrett Ronalds, and Jake Franklin. As a result, they have become regular contributors to his videos. 

Donaldson first gained popularity after the release of the video “Counting to 100,000” in 2017. He counted to 100,000 for 44 hours in the video.

He then recorded a video in which he counted to 200,000. Other well-known achievements include watching Jake Paul’s music video “It’s Every Day Bro” on repeat for 10 hours, reading the dictionary, reading the entire “Bee Movie” script, ubering across America, and saying “Logan Paul” 100,000 times.

Donaldson created a rock, paper, scissors competition stream in April 2020 with 32 influencers and a $250,000 grand prize. With 662,000 concurrent viewers at the time, it was YouTube’s most-watched live event. Donaldson held a second influencer event in October 2020 with 24 participants and a $30,000 grand prize.

Today, MrBeast’s YouTube account has more than 97 million subscribers and has generated more than 16,156,764,927 video views. Most average videos are viewed more than 30 million times. 

Moreover, he was nominated for the 2019 Shorty Awards Vlogger of the Year award. He won the Breakout Creator award. He was a nominee in the Favorite Male Social Star category of the 2020 Kids’ Choice Awards. He won the 2020 YouTuber of the Year award. At the Streamy Awards, he was also named the 2020 Creator of the Year.

Ad revenue

MrBeast’s YouTube account features video ads, just like so many others. Additionally, each video ad has a corresponding cost per mille (CPM), which is the sum an advertiser pays a website for every 1,000 individuals who watch the ad. Although the actual CPM can differ from one region to another, the majority of sources point to an average of about $5 USD for every thousand views.

Personal Life

Jimmy was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease, an inflammatory condition, in the ninth grade. He has been open about his challenging struggle with the terrible disease throughout the years.

Jimmy met Maddy Spidell on Twitter and they started dating. In a 2020 video titled “Surprising My Girlfriend With 100,000 Roses For Valentine’s Day,” which received over 72 million views on YouTube, Maddy was first identified as MrBeast’s girlfriend.
